The receptacle has carbon build up, increasing heat and resistance. Have an electrician replace the receptacle. Consider installing a level 2, 220v outlet, they are much more efficient and safer over the long haul. Although Volt can only draw 16amp, consider at least a 32amp wall charger for your next EV.

A fair number of Volt owners are now driving the Equinox EV, though there are other choices as well. I paid as much for my 300-ish mile Equinox EV as I did for my 2011 Volt.
