Walking up a Mixolydian scale in sixths is a guitar exercise that involves harmonizing each note of the scale with a note a major or minor sixth above it, creating a series of "sixth" dyads. Mixolydian has a major 3rd and a flat 7th, which together give it the dominant sound.
